Prices for textured hair styles vary more than people expect, and the sticker price alone doesn't tell the full story. Here's a realistic breakdown of what each style actually costs, and the factors that move the number up or down.

Braids — $150–$300

The biggest price driver is braid size: smaller braids and cornrow parts take significantly longer to install than larger, chunkier styles, so they cost more even though the products used are identical. Knotless techniques also add to the price over traditional box braids.

Sew-In — $150–$350

Price depends heavily on whether you're getting a closure install, how much hair is used, and how much time your stylist spends blending your leave-out with the weave. More hair and a closure typically push you toward the higher end of the range.

Silk Press — $80–$150

The most affordable option here. Price mostly comes down to the length and density of your hair, and whether a trim or deep conditioning treatment is bundled into the appointment.

Locs — $150–$400 to start

Starter locs run higher than a single braid or sew-in appointment because sectioning and starting each loc is slow, detailed work. But unlike the other three styles, this isn't a one-time cost.
